At Twin Rivers IV & Wellness Lounges, we use 1L 0.9% Normal Saline as the base for all cocktails. Normal Saline is an isotonic solution that helps increase our body’s total fluid volume. Our bodies are made of 70% water and water is essential to maintaining a healthy brain and healthy body functions. Adequate hydration aids in the overall function of our organs, tissues, joints, skin, and immune system. Maintaining a therapeutic level of hydration can help combat fatigue, improve digestion, slow the aging process, and help the body perform better and recover quicker from physical activities and illness. When we fail to hydrate appropriately, we put ourselves at much greater risk of illness, fatigue, unhealthy cravings, cramps, headaches, and poor moods.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
What is IV therapy?
IV therapy is a safe and effective way to introduce vitamins, minerals, and fluids into your body without the introduction of preservatives and additives that can be harmful. It also has the benefit of bio availability ensuring you absorb 100% of the items we introduce to your system. This practice has been around for decades and has proven to help those who are looking to improve their lifestyles, accelerate recovery, performance, impact the aging process and combat the negative effects of illness, auto immune disorders and disease processes.
I take daily oral vitamins and supplements, why would I need IV therapy?
IV therapy involves the direct infusion of fluids, nutrients, vitamins, and medications into the bloodstream through a vein, ensuring rapid absorption, bypassing the digestive system. Oral vitamins and supplements are a great way to get a daily dose of the most important nutrients we need just like we should be getting from our food. Unfortunately, the food we choose and the foods we have available don’t carry the same nutritional value our bodies crave. Additionally, as things pass through our digestive system, they lose so much potency. With IV therapy you get the benefit of 100% absorption every time making it an easy and effective way to reach therapeutic levels and avoid long term deficiencies of our essentials.
Is IV therapy safe?
In short, YES! As with any medical procedure there are risks. Those risks can include site infections, vein irritation, and in very rare cases an allergic reaction. To ensure we provide each client with the safest experience we screen each client with a medical form, obtain a set of vital signs prior to infusion, and take all necessary cleaning measures before, during and after each client encounter.
Who will be administering my IVs and injections?
Here at Twin Rivers, we hire an elite team of RNs who originate from high level areas of the hospitals and have the highest level of skills. We have an extensive training process and provide continuing education and skills assessment yearly to keep the staff current both in our company and in our industry.
Who is a good candidate for IV therapy?
EVERYONE (Well let’s start with adults)!! Common candidates may include those suffering from chronic or acute dehydration, travelers, those with nutrient deficiencies, local or systemic inflammation, brain fog, immunocompromised individuals, athletes, and longtime autoimmune sufferers. You don’t have to have any of these to benefit from our services. IV therapy is also sought after by workout enthusiasts, busy parents, those with low energy levels, sleep issues, migraines, altitude sickness, those with a hangover, anti-agers, biohackers and over health and wellness seekers.
Are there any conditions that may prevent someone from getting IV therapy?
Certain medical conditions and individual health circumstances may preclude or limit the use of IV therapy. Factors such as known allergies to IV substances, vein issues (including damage or sclerosis), fluid overload risks in individuals with heart or kidney conditions, severe electrolyte imbalances, or extremely high blood pressure can contraindicate IV therapy. Underlying chronic illnesses may necessitate specialized IV treatments or close monitoring to avoid complications. In some cases, pregnancy may require special consideration, and active infections or sepsis can be contraindications due to infection risks. Prior medical history and medication interactions should be thoroughly assessed. Consulting with a healthcare provider is essential to evaluate the suitability and safety of IV therapy for everyone’s unique health needs.
What are the benefits of IV therapy?
IV therapy offers several benefits, including rapid and efficient delivery of fluids, nutrients, vitamins, and medications directly into the bloodstream. This enables quicker absorption and higher bioavailability, making it effective for rehydration, nutrient replenishment, and medication administration. IV therapy is particularly useful for individuals with dehydration, nutrient deficiencies, certain chronic illnesses, or those seeking immediate relief from conditions like migraines or hangovers. Athletes also use it for performance enhancement. However, it’s essential to consult with a healthcare provider to determine if IV therapy is suitable for your specific needs and to ensure its safe and appropriate use.
What can I expect at my appointment?
First-time clients begin their appointment with a tour of the facility, a thorough explanation of the menu, our services and a brief one on one consolation with a Registered Nurse. Once the services are chosen, client information is entered into the system and necessary forms are completed. We then collect a set of vital signs and discuss the length and expectations. The IV is started and the nurse continues to monitor until the services are completed. The IV is then discontinued and discharge instructions are provided.
How long does a session last?
Injection services last less than 5 mins, IV infusions can last 20-45 minutes, while CBD and NAD+ infusions can last up to 1-3 hours. It is important to schedule your service with enough time to complete the infusion.
How is IV therapy administered?
Intravenous therapy is administered using a peripheral vein, usually elbow area and below. The equipment is hospital grade, packaged individually and infused at the most comfortable rate for the client.
Is it painful?
While there may be some initial discomfort during insertion, IV therapy is generally not considered painful for most individuals. The benefits of the treatment often outweigh any brief discomfort experienced during the procedure.
Do I need to do anything before my session to prepare?
We can certainly accelerate the process by filling forms out prior to your arrival. It is also good to know why you are seeking IV therapy so the staff nurse can help direct you to the most appropriate services. The rest is really handled on site and additional questions and concerns can be addressed at the time of the visit. You are welcome to bring a support person, your favorite snacks and beverages and a good book or podcast to help provide you with the relaxation you deserve.
Are there any side effects?
While IV therapy is generally safe when administered by qualified healthcare professionals, there can be side effects. Common side effects may include short term discomfort during IV insertion, bruising at the injection site, or a cooling or warming sensation as fluids enter the bloodstream. CBD and NAD+ Infusions can have additional short-term or transient side effects and can be minimized by working with your nurse on infusion rates.
How often can I receive IV therapy?
The frequency of IV therapy sessions depends on your specific health needs and the purpose of the treatment. For some, occasional sessions for hydration or nutrient replenishment may be sufficient, while others with chronic conditions may require more frequent treatments. Typically, sessions can range from weekly to monthly or as needed. For more frequent or indepth therapies we can consult your personal MD to speak with our Medical Director to ensure you receive the cadence of services that work best for you. Schedule a free nursing consultation to figure out what works best for you!
Are there any dietary or lifestyle recommendations to complement IV Therapy?
Depending upon your reasons for seeking IV therapy we can certainly see how other lifestyle and diet changes can complement the benefits of IV therapy. This can include removing inflammatory foods, caffeine, and alcohol, while incorporating other supplements not offered via IV and increasing physical activity.
